“I had a lot of questions about it this summer regarding the price of makeup,” said Mary Kay Palmer, creative director for makeup brand Viva Beauty. Palmer started out making the list because she thought makeup could be a “cosmetic” and even better than makeup, she said. It didn’t sell as well as her makeup in the U.S. and she felt uncomfortable buying the brand because it used to be a fairly affordable product.

Palmer says she received no negative reactions to the pricing.

“I’ve never had any negative reactions around it,” she said. “I just wanted to make sure that people understand that there is no return on investment for this.”
