The Association has two Legislative Committees focusing on issues that impact emergency management or response at the state and federal levels. The State committee provides education information to the Legislature of the State of Alabama pertaining to issues important to the emergency management program and keeps the membership informed on these issues. The Federal committee coordinates with Emergency Management organizations at the National level in support of an emergency preparedness program. This committee monitors proposed legislation at the Federal level that may impact emergency management activities or the goals of the Association.
